Bad News for Apple

On Monday, the most trusted source for product reviews in America said it would not recommend the iPhone4 because of the widely reported hardware flaw that sometimes causes dropped calls. New 'Panic Button' for Facebook-img-thumb
New 'Panic Button' for Facebook

The website Facebook has announced that it will allow a "panic button" application on its social networking website. After months of negotiation between Ceop (UK Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre) and Facebook, the social network agreed to install the application on its home page to say that "they are in control online". Pressure mounted on the Facebook website after Ashleigh Hall, a 17-year-old was murdered by a 33-year-old convicted sex offender posing as a young boy on the Facebook website. Bebo was the first social network website to add the button to its web page. Myspace followed suite, but Facebook resisted at first because they thought their reporting system was sufficient. Facebook received a letter backing Ceop's request for a panic button with the signature of forty-four police chiefs in England, Wales and Scotland. Both sides seem pleased with this outcome because it ultimately will provide a safer environment online for users.

Mozilla Turns it's back on Flash and Supports HTML5

A trend is happening that could make the iPhone / Flash debate seem very minor. Mozilla is declaring that HTML5 is the way of the future. In a recent article with The Register, the vice president of Mozilla said that the Adobe product will never be bundled with the browser. He is not against Flash like Apple, but states that web standards, including HTML5 are where the industry is going. While Flash remains the web standard for video, HTML5 is quickly being embraced. The top three major browser developers (Internet Explorer, Mozilla, and Safari) are giving the thumbs up to HTML5 over Flash and the future is uncertain for Adobe.
